Tiny Tots First Aid Information Session

Description

The information session for new parents, carers and grandparents addresses the most common incidents attended by paramedics involving Tiny Tots. The course was written by paramedics, and the content was checked, and endorsed by, a sub-specialist paediatrician here in the Southern Highlands NSW.

This is a 3 hour private session held at your preferred time and location. Your information session can have as many attendees as you wish.

Attendees at this session will learn:

  • to stay calm during an emergency
  • to safeguard their home and surrounds, to show preventative measures that can be easily addressed but may not be apparent
  • to recognise a sick child. We provide and explain a table which should be the “go to guide” for recognising a sick child.
  • to stabilise a sick child, with basic first aid
  • to know whether to treat the child at home, take the child to a doctor, take the child to hospital, or call an ambulance.
  • the differences between children and infants
  • the Emergency Action Plan (DRSABCD)
  • safeguarding the house & surrounds
  • to recognise a sick child
  • how to treat shock
  • CPR & defibrillation

Attendees will learn how to treat:

  • anaphylaxis
  • asthma
  • choking
  • burns
  • snake and spider bites
  • fits and fever
  • medical conditions and trauma
